How often should you wash a wig?

A beautiful wig starts with proper care. Like natural hair, wigs collect everyday buildup from styling products, oils, and the environment. Regular maintenance keeps every style looking fresh while helping preserve the softness, movement, and realistic finish that make alternative hair stunning.

One of the most important steps in any wig care routine is proper washing. Cleansing your wig every six to eight wears removes buildup that can leave the fibers looking dull, frizzy, or tangled. A clean wig is not only easier to style but can also experience less shedding. Plus, it has the added benefit of a longer lifespan when paired with products designed specifically for its fiber type.

Of course, washing is only one part of keeping a wig in excellent condition. Gently detangling with a wide-tooth comb and detangling spray helps prevent knots before they become a problem. Additionally, storing your wig on a stand or in its original box protects its shape between wears.

Whether the wig is straight, softly waved, or full of curls, the right care routine makes all the difference. To find out how to wash your wig, please check out our blog: How to Wash Wigs.
